A Day for Women Amid a Fight Against Breast Cancer

Fox's Trotters, a local Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure team, hosted their first Women's Day: Celebrating and Loving Her event on Sunday.

"Every 69 seconds, a women dies from breast cancer," explained Nichelle Fox to a crowd of men and women attending the first Women's Day: Celebrating and Loving Her event at the on Sunday.

The event, hosted by Fox and her local Susan G. Komen for the Cure team, Fox's Trotters, was aimed at offering women a relaxing evening of catering services and performances, coupled with sobering information about breast cancer awareness.

Event proceeds will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in its efforts for find a cure for breast cancer. Sunday's event is just one of the methods the Fox's Trotters use for raising money and promoting general awareness about breast cancer and ways of detection.

The event comprised a number of vendors—which sold jewelry, handbags, candles and desserts—as well as performances by Salsa Belles of Atlanta and local spoken word artists Blaksis, Darwin Laveon and Cali Starks. It also included a catered lunch from Flavor Affair and photographs taken of attendees by Rhythmic Images Photography

Fox said she hopes to make Women's Day an annual fundraising event for her team and encourages men and women to assist in their 60-mile, three-day walk by means of support, donation, participation or simply by spreading the word.
