Pancakes for Wounded Heroes

Bethel Gardens Assisted Living held its first ever fundraiser pancake breakfast Saturday morning for injured veterans.

Jill Meeks and local volunteers had pots of coffee and warm pancakes ready and waiting for customers of Saturday morning's military breakfast fundraiser event.

Meeks, the director at Bethel Gardens Assisted Living in Powder Springs, said the proceeds from plate and raffle ticket sales benefit the Heroes to Hometowns Wounded Warrior Program. Along with the funding, the event is also meant to give general support for veterans and those currently serving.

Started locally by a member of American Legion Post 294, the Heroes to Hometowns Wounded Warrior Program is for soldiers in the Powder Springs area who have served since the Sept. 11 attacks with a sustained disability. The program offers assistance and care for soldiers through their "Wounded Warrior Lifecycle."
