As Austell Intermediate, the school catered only to students in 2nd through 5th grades. When it changed to Hendricks Elementary for the 2012-13 school year, doors were opened to K-5 kids. The school takes advantage of a small forested area right off Meadows Road by using it as the school's Nature Trail.
