With full-time and part-time police officers, the Powder Springs Police Department has four to five officers on patrol at all times. K-9 and tactical units and motorcycles and ATVs supplement the department's patrol efforts.

Detectives follow up on reported crimes while the department incorporates proactive policing into daily activities. It emphasizes Neighborhood Watch and crime prevention programs.

The department's "G.R.E.A.T." program focuses on gang resistance education in local schools, while other outreach includes Neighborhood Watch and a Police Explorers program.

The department moved from its downtown location on Pineview Drive to the renovated Ace Hardware building on Sailors Parkway in May 2011. Pictures of both locations are in the attached photo gallery.
