This week's Cobb, Douglas and Paulding Weekend & Community Spotlight features the 10th Annual Gobble Jog by MUST Ministries. The road race on Thanksgiving morning raises money to fight poverty. This year’s theme, “It’s kind of a big deal,” heralds the Nov. 22 event that will hopefully attract 10,000 runners, building on last year’s 9,453 attendees. Proceeds from the race help MUST Ministries provide 34,000 individuals each year with food, shelter, education and employment opportunities, clothing and access to healthcare to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness and foster long-term change. Visit Patch's Event Calendar for more details on the Gobble Jog and how to register. Got a great event coming up in your community? Upload it onto …
The race, which will begin and end in Marietta Square, will be held on Oct. 6. at 8:00am.
Cobb County runners, walkers, joggers, and exercise lovers are invited to sign up for the 12th Annual Cobb County 5K benefiting Make-A-Wish Georgia, which will be held in early October. The 2011 iteration of the race raised $40,000 for Make-A-Wish, which allows children with life-threatening illnesses to see their wishes come true. The money raised in last year's race went towards granting the wishes of six children in the local area. Registration is open now for the 2012 race. Before Sept. 28, registration fees will be $20 for the untimed 5K and $25 for the timed 5K. After the 28th, the fees will increase to $25 and $35, respectively. Children from six to twelve years old are $10, and children under five get in free.
