Harry Brown was last seen Monday evening on Windage Way. He was found about 2 a.m. Tuesday in good spirits.
Cobb authorities early this morning canceled a Mattie’s Call for a missing 69-year-old Marietta man who suffers from Alzheimer’s. Harry Brown, who was last seen at 1400 Windage Way about 6:30 p.m. Monday, was found about 2 a.m. Tuesday behind a residence "within a close proximity of where he went missing," said Officer Mike Bowman with the Cobb County Police Department. Though he "was in good spirits," Brown was taken to WellStar Cobb Hospital in Austell as a precaution, Bowman said. There were no signs of foul play. A Cobb County woman who allegedly abandoned her daughter on the front porch of a home in South Carolina last week will likely be extradited to that state "tomorrow or Wednesday," the spokesman for the Anderson County Sheriff's Office said Monday. Tongela Denise McBride, who lives at the Parkside at Town Center, an apartment community in an unincorporated section of Cobb between Marietta and Kennesaw, was arrested just after 10:30 p.m. Friday night, according to online jail records. Two Marietta teens were killed early Sunday in a crash that occurred on Sandy Plains Road at Kinjac Drive in Marietta. According to a Cobb County Police Department news release, the crash happened about 3:21 a.m. Based on preliminary information from CCPD’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program, the crash saw a silver 2001 Volvo S60 going northbound on Sandy Plains Road at a high rate of speed when the driver apparently lost control. The car crossed into the southbound lanes of Sandy Plains Road and struck a large brick sign at the intersection of Kinjac Drive. Cobb County Police on Thursday released the name of a man killed in a three-vehicle crash that occurred about 11 p.m. Tuesday on South Cobb Drive near Walker Street in Marietta. According to a CCPD news release, killed in the crash was 19-year-old David Munlyn of Marietta. He was driving a maroon 2009 Kia Spectra that authorities say caused the crash. Based on preliminary information, investigators say Munlyn’s Spectra was traveling east on South Cobb Drive near Walker Street at the same time a white 2010 Lexus RX350 and a blue 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser were going west on South Cobb Drive. Cobb County School District officials spent a busy weekend requesting law enforcement assistance and briefing school principals, teachers and staff about security measures in the wake of Friday's deadly school shootings in Newtown, Conn. On Monday, Cobb County police and law enforcement from other Cobb cities were making safety rounds at schools. The Cobb County Police Department is investigating a robbery reported Thursday evening at a West Cobb store. According to a CCPD news release, the incident occurred at T-Mobile, 1812 Powder Springs Road in Marietta, about 5:30 p.m. when a male entered the business and asked a female employee for a specific item. After the employee brought the item to the sales floor after retrieving it from the stockroom, the male grabbed the merchandise and left the store, getting into a vehicle driven by another male. Smyrna Police Officer Darryl L. Whitfield of Powder Springs was arrested Saturday following a domestic violence incident.
The City of Smyrna Police Department has suspended an officer with pay pending the conclusion of an internal investigation. The suspension follows an arrest made by the Cobb County Police Department over the weekend. About 1:25 p.m. Saturday, Cobb officers were dispatched to the Powder Springs home of Smyrna Police Officer Darryl L. Whitfield. About two hours later, Whitfield was arrested and charged with misdemeanors including simple assault, simple battery, third degree cruelty to children (allowing a child to witness family violence), and obstructing or hindering persons making emergency telephone call, Smyrna police spokesman Michael Smith said. Powder Springs Police and the Cobb County Police Department’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program Unit are investigating a serious injury crash that occurred on C.H. James Parkway Tuesday. According to a news release Wednesday, investigators say a gray 2001 Mazda Tribute was traveling east on C.H. James Parkway just west of Florence Road. For reasons unknown, the driver lost control of his vehicle and crossed over the center lane and entered into the westbound travel lanes and collided with a blue 1996 Chevrolet Impala. At about 3:30 p.m., 16-year-old Wilford Hardnett was located in good condition walking on the Marietta Country Club golf course off Stilesboro Road, Sgt.
