Artists Flock to Open Mic Night

Musicians, poets and other talented locals performed before a packed crowd at the Powder Springs Coffee and Bake Shoppe on Friday.

The sounds of local artists came pouring out of the Powder Springs Coffee and Bake Shoppe onto the streets of an ordinarily quiet downtown Powder Springs on Friday. This was the coffee shop's first Open Mic Night, which allowed locals to perform any type of art: spoken word, music, dance and more. Upwards of 14 individual artists and groups performed before a packed crowd despite the coffee shop opening only two months ago. Co-owner Larry Evans said: "It's just wonderful to hear noise down here." The coffee shop hopes to have some sort of live performance every Friday night, with Open Mic Night being a monthly event.

Had so much fun with everyone Friday night! Thank you to the Evans family for making me feel so welcome and for having such an amazing event that brought the downtown area to life! I'll definitely be back - and it won't be a business visit either. Thanks again!   more ›
