Marietta Teens Killed in Early Morning Crash

Cobb County Police are seeking information regarding an early Sunday crash on Sandy Plains Road at Kinjac Drive.

Two Marietta teens were killed early Sunday in a crash that occurred on Sandy Plains Road at Kinjac Drive in Marietta. According to a Cobb County Police Department news release, the crash happened about 3:21 a.m. Based on preliminary information from CCPD’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program, the crash saw a silver 2001 Volvo S60 going northbound on Sandy Plains Road at a high rate of speed when the driver apparently lost control.  The car crossed into the southbound lanes of Sandy Plains Road and struck a large brick sign at the intersection of Kinjac Drive. After striking the sign, the vehicle caught fire and both the driver and his occupant died as a result. Authorities identified the deceased as 19-year old Stephen Nolasco, who …

Marietta Man Dies in Tuesday Night Crash

No charges are expected to be filed in the wake of the crash, which occurred on South Cobb Drive near Walker Street late Tuesday.

Cobb County Police on Thursday released the name of a man killed in a three-vehicle crash that occurred about 11 p.m. Tuesday on South Cobb Drive near Walker Street in Marietta. According to a CCPD news release, killed in the crash was 19-year-old David Munlyn of Marietta. He was driving a maroon 2009 Kia Spectra that authorities say caused the crash. Based on preliminary information, investigators say Munlyn’s Spectra was traveling east on South Cobb Drive near Walker Street at the same time a white 2010 Lexus RX350 and a blue 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser were going west on South Cobb Drive. Fatal Crash Hurts Powder Springs Pair

A Hiram man died in the three-vehicle wreck Saturday night in the Dallas area.

Two Powder Springs women were injured Saturday night in a three-vehicle crash that killed a Hiram man. Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright said troopers from the GSP’s Cartersville post responded to the crash at the intersection of Georgia 120 and Georgia 92 in the Dallas area about 6:50 p.m. Killed in the crash was 74-year-old John N. Voorhees of Hiram, a passenger in a 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis that turned from eastbound Ga. 120 into the path of a westbound Chevrolet Tahoe. The driver of the Tahoe was Vernell Brown Martin, 35, of Powder Springs. She and a passenger, Sherrie Green, 31, also from Powder Springs, were taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta. Crash Kills Powder Springs Man

Alcohol may have played a factor when David Jones, 27, ran off the road and hit several trees along Oglesby Road early Monday.

A Powder Springs man was killed early today when his pickup truck ran off the road and slammed into several trees. David W. Jones, 27, was driving alone in a black 2001 Ford F-150 just before 3 a.m. when he ran off Oglesby Road near Five Oaks Place in the Powder Springs area, Cobb County police spokesman Officer Mike Bowman said in a news release. Jones was dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt, and alcohol is being looked at as a possible contributing factor, Bowman said. It was the second of two fatal wrecks in less than five hours in south Cobb. An 18-year-old, Eric R. Update: Driver Charged with Vehicular Homicide

William Webb, 23, is blamed for the death of a 74-year-old woman after driving his pickup truck into a parked vehicle Friday.

The driver of the GMC Sierra, William Webb, has been charged with reckless driving and vehicular homicide in the second degree, which are both misdemeanors. Webb turned himself into police Monday afternoon and was processed at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center. Bond for Webb was set at $3,500. According to jail booking records, Webb now lives in East Cobb in the 1600 block of Roswell Road instead of Powder Springs. William Webb of Powder Springs faces charges in Marietta in the death of a 74-year-old Commerce woman. The 23-year-old drove a GMC Sierra pickup truck into a Ford Freestyle crossover vehicle parked along Church Street outside WellStar Kennestone Hospital just after 4:30 p.m. Friday, Marietta police said. Crash Injuries Kill Powder Springs Man

Thomas Brooks, 61, drove his motorcycle into the back of a car Aug. 12, police say.

A Powder Springs motorcyclist injured in a collision Aug. 12 in Austell has died. Thomas Brooks, 61, died Monday at Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was taken in serious condition after the wreck at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 12, Cobb County police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce said in a statement. Brooks was riding a black 2003 Honda Shadow when he drove into the back of a gray 2003 BMW 745 stopped for the light at the intersection of Powder Springs Road and the East-West Connector. The BMW’s driver, Steven Edwards, 22, of Springfield, MA, was not hurt. Police ask anyone with information about the crash to call 770-499-3987.
