Cobb Fire To The Rescue—of Fellow Firefighers [VIDEO]

The West Hamilton Beach Volunteer Fire Department in New York state will soon receive a fire truck donated Wednesday by Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services.

A former Cobb County fire truck will have a new home in New York later this month. Officials from Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services held Wednesday morning a ceremony that saw the department donating a surplus fire engine—a 1992 Pierce Arrow Red Pumper with 177,292 miles on it—to the West Hamilton Beach Volunteer Fire Department, which is based in Howard Beach, N.Y. The fire truck donation stems from Cobb Fire’s ongoing partnership with the Georgia Chapter of the Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund, which has identified a number of departments in the northeastern U.S. that lost equipment as a result of Hurricane Sandy last year. “They lost everything … their firehouse was flooded, their engines, their ambulances, their turnout gear, their…

Cobb To Donate Fire Engine to Hurricane-Affected Area

The surplus fire engine will be donated next week to a volunteer fire department in New York state.

Weeks after losing three of its fire engines and two ambulances during Hurricane Sandy, a New York state fire department will receive some help from their peers here in Cobb. Wednesday at 11 a.m., officials from Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services will donate a surplus fire engine to the West Hamilton Beach Volunteer Fire Department, which is based in Howard Beach, N.Y. The donation of the 1992 Pierce Arrow Red Pumper with 177,292 miles on it will take place at fire headquarters at 1595 County Services Parkway in Marietta. The donation will help a department that saw its firehouse hit with 5 to 7 feet of water during Sandy, NY1 reported in November. Cobb Fire officials say the department currently does not have an operating truck to …
