Marietta Man Who Shot Himself Dies

James Lamar Kemp, 46, shot himself in the head following a high-speed chase in Cartersville and Bartow County. Kemp's last known address was in Marietta.

The man who shot himself in the head during a high-speed chase has died, according to the Bartow County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Clark Millsap identified him as James Lamar Kemp, 46, whose last known address was in Marietta. Following an alleged physical domestic dispute at a home near Adairsville early Saturday morning, Kemp led responding deputies on a pursuit that ended on Interstate 75 in Cartersville, police say.  He had allegedly kicked in his ex-wife's door. North of Cass-White Road, Kemp's vehicle struck a guard rail. Deputies found him slumped over the steering wheel with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Kemp was pronounced dead Sunday morning at Floyd Medical Center, where he had been in critical condition.

Paper: New Evidence in Marietta Teen’s Shooting Death

The case surrounding the November shooting death of a Marietta teen could parallel that of a similar shooting that occurred last year in the same state. Jordan Russell Davis, 17, who split time at his mother’s home in Marietta and father’s home in Jacksonville, Fla., was shot and killed outside a Jacksonville convenience store on Nov. 23. Michael David Dunn, 45 at the time of Davis’ death, was arrested a day later. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Tuesday reported that Dunn—who faces charges of first-degree murder and three counts of attempted murder—is claiming self-defense, but police have not found the shotgun Dunn said had been pointed at him before he allegedly fired into the SUV that Davis and three others had been in at the time…

Marietta Man Killed after Fleeing Gunman

The investigation revealed that the suspect, Patrick Burr, used to date the female resident at 113 Griggs St. Burr arrived at the house and observed both Moses and his ex-girlfriend sitting in a car in the driveway of the house.

Marietta Police are investigating a murder involving an ex-boyfriend and another man. Marietta Police officers responded to a report of a person shot at 113 Griggs Street at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. When officers arrived they found the victim, 24-year-old Arthur Moses Jr. of Marietta, dead from multiple gunshot wounds. The investigation revealed that the suspect, Patrick Burr, used to date the female resident at 113 Griggs Street. Burr arrived at the house and observed both Moses and his ex-girlfriend sitting in a car in the driveway of the house.  Burr pulled out a pistol and began firing into the car, police said. Marietta Teen Shot, Killed in Florida

A man faces charges of murder and attempted murder following the shooting death of 17-year-old Jordan Russell Davis. Davis' funeral is set for Saturday in Marietta.

Funeral arrangements have been set for a Marietta teen who was shot and killed Friday in Jacksonville, Fla., after an argument over loud music. According to the Orlando Sentinel, 17-year-old Jordan Russell Davis and several other teenagers were sitting in an SUV in a convenience store parking lot when 45-year-old Michael David Dunn and his girlfriend pulled into the store’s lot. Dunn reportedly asked the teens to turn down the music playing in their vehicle. After he and Davis exchanged words, Dunn shot Davis eight or nine times, striking Davis twice, authorities said. Man Charged in East Cobb Murder

Desmond Brookins was arrested Tuesday in Powder Springs for the October shooting death of Adrian Thomas Coleman.

A Cobb Police SWAT team traffic stop in Powder Springs on Tuesday netted the arrest of a man for the murder of an East Cobb resident last fall.  Cobb Police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce said Wednesday that Desmond Andre Brookins, 21, was detained without incident on Hopkins Road. The Cobb Sheriff's Office booking report listed his home address as being on nearby Hopkins Court. Brookins is being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, Pierce said. Brookins was charged for the Oct. 13 murder of Adrian Thomas Coleman, 25, who was found shot to death in his home at the Lantern Ridge Apartments on Roswell road, near the South Marietta Parkway.
