There will be more than 150 local businesses with booths at today’s Cobb Business-to-Business Expo, and Patch will be one of them. Patch serves 46 communities in Georgia, with eight sites in Cobb County alone. Several Patch editors and sales staff who serve Cobb as well other metro Atlanta communities will be on hand at booth 720 throughout the event at the Cobb Galleria Centre. The expo runs from 3 to 7 p.m. and attendance is free. Infosys already employs 350 people in the East Cobb area.
An Indian firm that specializes in information technology consulting is expanding its work force in Cobb County. At today's First Monday breakfast of the Cobb Chamber of Commerce, Infosys BPO Ltd. formally announced it would be adding 200 jobs to its current operations located in East Cobb. Infosys, based in Bangalore, India, employs between 60-100 people at the Wildwood corporate complex. According to The Marietta Daily Journal, Infosys also employs 250 more people on Powers Ferry Road after purchasing McCamish Systems in 2009. The new jobs will "support the Infosys Business Process Outsourcing subsidiary" and will be added in the Cumberland Mall area, according to a report on GPB.com. The Cobb Chamber of Commerce is offering a free two-hour workshop Friday morning on the fundamentals of writing a business plan. The workshop takes place from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Cobb Chamber offices, located at 240 Interstate North Parkway. Cobb Commission Chairman Tim Lee will deliver the 2013 "State of the County" address before the Cobb Chamber of Commerce next week. The organization's First Monday breakfast starts Jan. 14 at 7:30 a.m. at the Cobb Galleria Centre, 2 Galleria Parkway. The online registration and refund deadline is this Wednesday, Jan. 9, at noon. Tickets are $25 a person for Cobb Chamber members online and $40 at the door; general admission tickets are $60 a person. A state senator from Marietta was one of three Cobb County residents honored Wednesday by the Cobb Chamber of Commerce Northwest Cobb Area Council as Citizens of the Year. The group recognized State Sen. Lindsey Tippens, R-Marietta, as West Cobb's Citizen of the Year. Tippens, who Cobb Schools Foundation Executive Director Sheri Brante called a true servant leader, served for 12 years on the Cobb County Board of Education. David Connell, CEO and president of the Cobb Chamber of Commerce, strongly endorsed the proposed regional transportation penny sales tax on Thursday at the Acworth Business Association's monthly luncheon at NorthStar Church. Connell spoke to an audience of about 100 people, which included local business leaders, Kennesaw Mayor Mark Mathews and state Rep. Ed Setzler, who opposes the tax. Association members from around the county converged for an after-hours event at California Dreaming Restaurant and Bar in Kennesaw Tuesday night.
The Northeast Cobb Business Association was joined by members of the Marietta, Smyrna and South Cobb business associations for an after-hours event in Kennesaw Tuesday night at California Dreaming Restaurant and Bar in Kennesaw. The event was sponsored by the restaurant, and Acworth's Ollie Patterson provided music.
