Cobb Murder Suspect Arrested in Union City

John Kristofak was apprehended early Thursday morning at a motel.

John Kristofak, wanted for the murder of his ex-wife at her East Cobb home, was arrested early Thursday morning. The Cobb County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Unit and the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Task Force took him into custody, according to the Cobb Police Department, which issued a statement at 8:30 this morning.  Kristofak, 58, is being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, charged with murder and aggravated assault. Various media reports earlier Thursday morning indicated that Kristofak, 58, was apprehended after "a brief struggle" with law enforcement, which included Union City police, and that a gun was found in his motel room. Cobb Man Wanted for Killing Wife

Cobb Police say John Kristofak is at large and is considered armed and dangerous.

An East Cobb woman died Saturday after apparently being killed by her husband, and Cobb Police are searching for him. Cobb Police Spokesman Officer Michael Bowman said Donna Nations Kristofak, 48, died after being taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital. Murder and aggravated assault warrants have been issued for John Kristofak, 59, whom police say should be considered armed and dangerous.
