UGA COBB COUNTY COOPERATIVE EXTENSION
UGA/EXTENSION
The Extension Office responds to the needs and interests of people in urban agriculture/horticulture, the environment, family and consumer sciences and 4H and youth in Cobb County with unbiased research-based education.  We provide training, programs, resources and services as the educational outreach of The University of Georgia.
Home horticulture and the Green Industry are the two primary areas of concern in Urban Agriculture in Cobb County.  The Extension staff and Master Gardener volunteers answer a broad range of questions over the phone, internet and office visits.  The public and industry professionals may seek our advice on topics such as: weeds, bugs, plant diseases and trouble shooting in the landscape or home garden.  We offer soil testing, insect identification, plant disease diagnosis, proper installation and care of the landscape, as well as trouble-shooting landscape problems. Family and Consumer Science Department provides information by classes, exhibits and community collaborations on subjects such as:  nutrition, health, food safety, food preservation, personal financial management, we offer continuing education courses required for the food service and child care industry.  UGA Cobb County Extension staff are trained to teach food safety and sanitation classes for managers and employees and, proctor examinations.  Check our website www.cobbextension.com  or call (770-528-4070) for dates of upcoming classes. Cobb County 4H works with children who live in Cobb County.  Children from 5th grade to 12th grade may participate in theses clubs with the mission to assist our youth in acquiring knowledge, developing life skills and forming attitudes that will enable them to become self-directing, productive and contributing members of society. We look forward to hearing from our public with plant questions, food and consumer education issues and 4H classes and programs.  I will be continuing to blog on behalf of UGA/COBB COUNTY COOPERATIVE EXTENSION and answering your questions.  Please feel free to blog your question, email me directly at emily.harper@cobbcounty.org or call the office at 770-528-4070.
